ABOUT ME

My introduction to the world of wine started at a very young age. As a young boy I can remember my father describing the different wine regions of Europe and how wine grapes were grown. On occasion, I even got a small sip of wine at the dinner table which, as I grew older, l learned to appreciate more and more.

In late summer of 2001, I packed up my apartment in New Jersey and drove across the country for my first harvest experience at the beautiful Chateau St. Jean winery in Sonoma, California.

For the next 5 years I worked as cellar worker, laboratory assistant and assistant vineyard manager at several different wineries both on the North Coast and the Central Coast of California.

For the past ten years, I have been primarily on the sales side of the wine world, working for a few local distributors, doing staff training for restaurants and, of course, hosting wine dinners.

MY PHILOSOPHY

My approach to learning about wine is this, keep it simple and fun. Wine dinners are all about eating and drinking and enjoying each other’s company and my many years in the business has taught me that that the success of these events is all about achieving the right balance between technical information, guest participation and general social interaction. The whole evening should be a seamless integration of these 3 principles. The guests should never feel that they are being lectured to or that their questions or opinions are irrelevant. They generally want to learn but they also want to enjoy the evening.
